WHO WON THE DEBATE?
In presidential debates, the moderators’ challenge is to frame questions that draw unambiguous responses without themselves becoming part of the debate. Exaggerations may be overlooked but not outright lies or half-truths, which the moderators must expose.
It’s important to keep in mind that a presidential debate is not a judicial trial where an attorney can ask any question albeit within judicial limits. Nor is it like a US Supreme Court certiorari hearing where justices interrupt the attorneys even in the middle of a sentence.
The debate will have little impact on voters because nothing was said that was already not known. Who won the debate has little meaning.
